Or I guess rather, who am I? (but we can skip the Jean Valjean joke.)
My name is Kevin, and I guess I am a Nomadic Cheesemonger. A cheesemonger is simply someone who sells cheese! I launched The Cheese Weeb with a simple goal: to make exploring and enjoying cheese more approachable for everyone—while also nurturing a sense of community around it.
Through playful pop-ups, engaging classes and demos, and just plain cooking for people, we aim to share the joy of cheese in creative, welcoming ways.
Who we are
I was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, and studied Technical Theatre at Columbus State University, with a focus on scenic carpentry and design. I worked in theatre for years as a carpenter and set designer, but my work life has been anything but conventional.
In high school and college, I held a wide range of jobs—everything from dressing up as a hula girl for an ice cream truck, to working as a farmhand on a horse ranch, to spending far too many years working (and eventually managing) a bowling alley.
All of that led me, unexpectedly, to cheese. After attending a class hosted by the fantastic folks at St. James Cheese Company, I was completely hooked.
Eventually, I moved to Chicago and landed a role in the cheese department at the Italian market Eataly. I dove headfirst into learning everything I could, and within four months, I was promoted to department lead. That journey also led me to become the Operations Manager for their Events Department, giving me even deeper insight into food, cooking, and hospitality.
As much as I loved Chicago, the cold was relentless, so I made my way back south and now work at a cheese shop in Atlanta—continuing to learn, share, and celebrate the world of cheese.
I like cheese a lot, I enjoy cooking, and I enjoy sharing with people. To anybody confused about the “Weeb part of the name, just think of a nerd. A big part of this idea is embracing the fun, curiosity, and silliness that food (and life!) should have. Learning about cheese doesn’t have to be intimidating—it should be joyful!
If you have an idea on something that you want to do involving cheese, a class, event, pop-up, catering, please reach out so we can figure out how to get you something yummy!
Food brings people together. It spreads joy, builds community, and should be accessible to everyone. That said, this is a space where hate has no home. If your values include white supremacy, fascism, xenophobia, homophobia, or anything that harms others, please go somewhere else. Also saying clearly: Free Palestine. If you do not agree—we kindly ask you to take your business elsewhere.
Thanks for being here. Be kind, stay curious, and eat good cheese!
